Carrey’s love of nature and passion for science drew her to Naturopathic Medicine. She graduated from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine in 2004, after studying Biomedical Science and Nutrition at the University of Guelph (1998) , and earning her Master of Science degree in Physiology from the University of Western Ontario (2000). Her thesis was published in the scientific journals Anesthesiology and Brain Research.
Carrey enjoys teaching and empowering her patients how to significantly improve their health and lifestyle. She has a family practice with special focus on children and women’s health, fertility, pre- and postnatal care, skin health, detoxification and cancer care. Carrey is also a registered Bowen practitioner (www.bowtech.com), Naturopathic Doula and certified Intravenous (IV) Therapist.
Carrey has published and peer-reviewed articles for CAMline (www.camline.ca), an evidence-based website on complementary and alternative medicine (CAM) for healthcare professionals and the public. She also mentors naturopathic and undergraduate university students, teaching them about the benefits of complementary and alternative medicine.
Carrey is an active member of both the Ontario and Canadian Associations of Naturopathic Doctors, and licensed with the College of Naturopaths of Ontario.
In her spare time, she enjoys long distance running, learning Welsh, as well as spending time with her husband and their daughters in the great outdoors, hiking and back-country camping.
